Where They Sell Uggs At

NEWS FROM HAITI

We are in Port au Prince.

3 months have passed since the earthquake that devastated much of the city and are on a mission to verify the projects undertaken by ANPIL and set new ones with the collaboration local authorities.

I'm surprised to see how nothing has changed since our last drop of March.

unsafe houses, debris everywhere.

The center of the city, one that was hardest hit, it seems the picture of the first moments after the earthquake.

Despite the presence of significant military equipment and thousands of troops from nations' disparate, no area of the city yet been made safe and the "Ground Zero" of Port au Prince, the Haitian side, there is no No quota working to move the rubble and begin a disposal operation.

What do then all these soldiers here in Port au Prince?

What is their role?

Going around the city, in addition to tent camps where poor people live, we encounter in many of these military camps.

seem as if they were prepared in a state of war. Hundreds of armored vehicles, trucks with machine guns attached to the station, amphibious vehicles, ....

What are these? In Port au Prince

there are acts of looting, the population is quiet ... resigned, there is tension that do predict a riot popular.

Would not it be better to commit these forces (but expensive!) In a task of securing the city?

assist rather embarrassing to daily parades of soldiers, aboard trucks and guns pointing at head height, running in Port au Prince in a kind of armed reconnaissance instead of a city that is completely peaceful.

When one enters the vast central area of the city, the "Ground Zero", there is no more 'not even the shadow of a soldier.

Where there would be no need to bring help ... no one!

Haitians are gradually regaining possession areas of the city that the earthquake had rendered desolate. Are required!

see them move the debris with bare hands, stacking materials, cut with the knife protruding makeshift hacksaw.

So are the Haitians themselves who are trying to "clean up" their city, without having the support and help of the machinery that would be needed.

We counted on our tour of Downtown, 10, maybe 12 caterpillar .... In an area where it would take at least 200! And of those 12

caterpillar seen, 4 were engaged in the courtyard of the National is progressively demolished.

"The pledges where are they?" "You did not see anyone!"

These are the phrases I've heard as we cross the city center on foot.

In fact, if we look around, ours are the only white faces we see and we are the only foreigners, at least in that area.

The small business is resumed, even if the street vendors with their stalls, at their own risk, they place with their banquets behind the buildings unsafe.

Port au Prince is a concrete demonstration of how all our theories about the safety standards, protocols, procedures, occupy much space in the culture of our home, here are just a ... optional!

Reconstruction of Port au Prince has not yet begun.

The demolition of unsafe buildings hard to leave.

are more than 90,000 buildings considered unsafe and be killed.

Everything is still like the day after the earthquake. The impressive machine

aid has set in motion, of course, but apparently only to raise thousands of euro, which still is not clear where they got ....

Where are the promised aid?

A recent estimate has more than 10,000 humanitarian organizations present only in Port au Prince.

But where are all these organizations?

We've got to visit some of the tent city.

I am officially 415, but their real number nobody knows.

The displaced are estimated to be 500,000.

no shadow of any humanitarian organization !!!!!!!!

Haitians are very good: their tent city, even if sometimes set up with sheets of luck, they are real villages within the city. There is the cook, who washes, there is the area for children to play, there is the area where you can make a small business ....

There are also Italian organizations that have raised millions of euro: what they are doing and where?

It is now clear that all known for some time even if it is politically incorrect said, the cataclysms and disasters are a huge opportunity to make money on the skin of the victims and good faith of those who decide to donate something emotionally.

If it is true that on the night of the earthquake in Abruzzo, someone started laughing thinking about the business of reconstruction, we are sure that here in Haiti, and in Italy, in certain organizations and foundations, have uncorked bottles of champagne! Dear Italian

Please go to Haiti!

E 'of the scene BIG BLUFF aid!

MAX
